Economy Minister stands down

Published

Minister of the Economy Pavol Pavlis has resigned his portfolio after a conversation with Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The Minister has reportedly withdrawn after a newspaper story alleging nepotism over a cleaning company run by Dávid Šípoš, Pavlis’ brother-in-law, profiting from state contracts. The Minister is said to have withdrawn because the “Smearing of his name represents potential damage to the party that nominated him as well as to his personal reputation and that of his family” according to TASR.
