Education Minister resigns

Published

Premier Jiang Yi-huah has accepted the resignation of Minister of Education Chiang Wei-ling’s resignation “with reluctance” today according to an article in Focus Taiwan.

Chiang Wei-ling has become embroiled in a controversy over a disgraced academic who had 60 articles retracted from the Journal of Vibration and Control over allegations of falsified peer reviews. Chiang is believed to have been a co-author in five of the articles.

Yesterday the Democratic Progressive Party called for Chiang’s resignation. Chiang says that he is innocent and will return to his teaching post at the Central University.
