Education Minister resigns

Published

In a rare event for the normally stable government of Gabon its Minister of Education and Technical Education, Professor Léon Nzouba, has resigned.

The resignation comes after large numbers of schoolchildren filed to pass their high school exams due to recent reforms which had not taken previous marks into account. The controversy has been raging for several weeks with the minister changing his mind several times.

Prime Minister Daniel Ona Ondo has accepted the resignation.
