Eugene Wamalwa becomes Cabinet Secretary for Water and Irrigation

President Uhuru Kenyatta was present at the swearing in ceremony of Eugene Wamalwa as Cabinet Secretary for Water and Irrigation. The portfolio is a new Ministry created last month.

The formal announcement on the President’s website is as follows:

“Eugene Wamalwa takes oath of office

Eugene Wamalwa was today sworn in as the Cabinet Secretary for Water and Irrigation.

President Uhuru Kenyatta witnessed the ceremony conducted by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua at State House, Nairobi.

Wamalwa’s nomination as a Cabinet Secretary for the newly created ministry was approved by Parliament last month.

Mr Wamalwa, who is a lawyer by profession, has previously served in the Cabinet as the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs under former President Mwai Kibaki.

He has also served in Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Saboti.

The new Cabinet Secretary came to State House accompanied by a large delegation of prominent leaders including MPs, Governors and former Ministers.”
