Financial Services Minister found hanged

Published

Japan’s Minister for Financial Services, Tadahiro Matsushita, has been found hanged in his apartment in Tokyo. Police have told local newspapers that it was an apparent suicide. This may be linked to revelations that were due to be published by a Japanese magazine that the 73 year old was having an affair; notes were left to his wife and the prime minister.

Finance Minister Jun Azumi, will manage the portfolio as financial services minister and Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda will cover his job as minister in charge of supervising privatisation of the post office network.
