FinMin resigns

Published

Minister of Finance and Vice-Prime Minister Daniel ChiĊ£oiu has resigned his portfolio.

The decision was announced yesterday but there are differing accounts as to the reason for the resignation. Reuters, in a news story, say that it was because of a policy difference within his National Liberal Party (PNL) but local newspapers say that the move was to free the former minister up to run the forthcoming election campaigns (European and Presidential) for his party.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta also has to appoint a new Interior Minister after Radu Stroe resigned last week.
