FinMin sacked

Published

Prime Minister ‘Akilisi Pohiva has dismissed his Minister of Finance, Dr ‘Aisake Eke. The Minister was informed yesterday that the prime minister would want his resignation by 9 a.m. this morning.

It would appear that the prime minister was upset because the finance minister abstained from a no-confidence vote last week which the prime minister survived by 14 votes to 10.

No replacement has, as yet, been announced.
