FinMin stands down

Published

Mexico’s Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (Finance Minister), Luis Videgaray Caso, has resigned. The decision was taken a week after American presidential candidate Donald Trump visited Mexico and held talks with President Enrique Peña Nieto. The talks, which were seen as a disaster, were widely criticised and the finance minister was identified as the architect of the visit.

José Antonio Meade Kuribreña has been appointed the new Secretary of Finance and Public Credit. He in turn has been replaced by Luis Enrique Miranda Nava as the new Secretary of Social Development.
