Five Cabinet Ministers suspended

Published

Following on from his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta suspended four Cabinet Ministers on Saturday who had been named in an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) report. A fifth Minister stepped aside yesterday morning.

In his SONA speech the President had taken the unprecedented step of announcing that any government official named in the EACC report would be expected to step down from their position whilst they were being investigated. The President also annexed the report to his speech to ensure that all names across government became public knowledge.

The Ministers involved are Cabinet Secretaries:

Kazungu Kambi Labour, Social Security and Services
Michael Kamau Transport & Infrastructure
Davis Chirchir Energy & Petroleum
Felix Koskei Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
Charity Ngilu Land, Housing and Urban Settlement
