The new Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has started his term of office by reducing his government substantially. He has cut a total of 11 ministries and streamlined the government down to 21 ministries.

The interim budget has been tentatively set for 28th September.

The departments that have been cut are People, Food Production, Justice, Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Legal Affairs, Diversity and Social Integration, Arts and Multiculturalism, Environment and Water Resources, Science and Technology, Gender Youth and Child Development, and Tobago Development.
