Godfrey Farrugia forces PM into long expected reshuffle

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has carried out a major reshuffle of his Cabinet. A reshuffle has been on the cards for several weeks with little else in the local newspapers. The final move came about when Health Minister Godfrey Farrugia pre-empted the prime minister and announced his resignation on Saturday.

The announcement of changes has come in piecemeal fashion with most of the announcements coming through Tweets. In addition to Ministerial changes a number of changes occurred at Parliamentary Secretary level.

The line-up of the new Cabinet is as follows:

Helena Dalli Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties
Chris Cardona Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business
Emmanuel Mallia Minister for Home Affairs and National Security
Edward Scicluna Minister for Finance
Konrad Mizzi Minister for Energy and Health
Michael Farrugia Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity
