Hardliner is new First Vice President

Retired general and Yangon Chief Minister Myint Swe has been selected as the new First Vice President to replace Tin Aung Myint Oo who resigned for health reasons last week.

Myint Swe (61) is viewed as a hardliner and was involved in the 2007 crackdown on the so called ‘Saffron Revolution’ when more than 30 people including monks were killed.
