Hassan Ali Khaire appointed Prime Minister

Recently elected President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has appointed Hassan Ali Khaire to be Somalia’s next prime minister.

Hassan Ali Khaire (49) went to school in Mogadishu and then moved to Norway in 1989 where he went to the University of Oslo obtaining a degree in political science. He also has an MBA from the University of Edinburgh. After graduating he started work with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and eventually became their Regional Director for the Horn of Africa. He is a director of Soma Oil and Gas. He holds both Somalian and Norwegian citizenship and speaks fluent Somali, Norwegian and English.
