Health Minister resigns

Minister of Health Basil Cepoi has resigned after accusations of corruption whilst using European Union funds.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta has accepted the resignation but asked Basil Cepoi to remain on as an advisor to the prime minister on health according to a Health Ministry statement.

Secretary of State for Health, Dr. Raed Arafat has been asked to take over the functions of the Minister of Health but the statement doesn’t make clear if this is a permanent or temporary appointment.
