Ignasius Jonan is new Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources

President Jokowi Widodo has appointed Ignasius Jonan, the former transportation minister, as his new Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. Jonan replaces Archandra Tahar who was dismissed in August.

The announcement as published on the Antara News Agency website is as follows:

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday appointed Ignatius Jonan and Arcandra Tahar as minister and deputy minister of energy and mineral resources respectively.

Jonan and Tahar took their oaths in front of the president at the State Palace before he left for a work visit to West Kalimantan Province.

Jonan was installed as the energy minister for the remaining term of office, till 2019, through Presidential Decree No. 114/P/2016, concerning the appointment of a working cabinet minister. Tahar was ordained through Presidential Decree No. 115/P/2016.”
