Interior Minister dies

Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, better known as Crown Prince Nayef has died suddenly aged 77. He had been the Interior Minister since 1970 and was credited with the clampdown on Al Qaeda in the country as well as setting up a strong internal security apparatus.

His most likely successor as the Crown Prince is Prince Salman (76) the current Minister of Defence. He is seen as being the man most likely to continue the reforms of the current king, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud (87).
