Interior Minister resigns

Published

Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit has resigned from the government after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) found him guilty of misconduct over the Alpine Land case.

According to a report in the Bangkok Post he had approved the sale of plots of land in Pathum Thani to Alpine Real Estate and Alpine Golf and Sports Club in 2002 despite a Council of State ruling that it was monastic land and could not be sold or transferred.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has accepted the resignation and said that the deputy interior minister would handle the work of the ministry.
