Interior Minister resigns

Minister of Internal Affairs, Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas, has resigned his portfolio citing poor health as the reason. However, the Minister and his Ministry have been under investigation by the country’s Special Investigation Service which is looking into possible allegations of corruption in public procurement contracts at the Ministry.

The Minister’s resignation has been accepted by Prime Minister Algirdui Butkevičiui. The Minister is one of two Cabinet Ministers from the right-wing Order and Justice Party.
