Isabel García Tejerina named Agriculture Minister

Isabel García Tejerina has been named as the new Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. She replaces Miguel Arias Cañete who is standing in the forthcoming European election.

García Tejerina (45) has a degree in agronomy from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a law degree from the University of Valladolid as well as a Master’s degree in European Communities and in Agricultural Economics. Prior to this appointment she was Secretary General of Agriculture and Food at the Ministry and between 2004 and 2012 was Director of Strategic Planning at Fertial SPA a joint Algerian and Spanish fertiliser company.
