JUI-F leaves government

Published

The Jamiat Ulema e Islam (Fazl) (JUI-F) has withdrawn its support for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (N) led government and has withdrawn its two ministers, neither of whom has been allocated portfolios. The two JUI-F ministers, both of whom have tendered their resignations, are Akram Khan Durrani and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.

The party has apparently fallen out with the government over “serious reservations with the government on the question of talks with the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Protection of Pakistan Bill and the National Internal Security Policy.”
