Mahamat Kamoun appointed Prime Minister

President Catherine Samba-Panza of the Central African Republic (CAR) has named Mahamat Kamoun, a Muslim as her new Prime Minister.

A former special adviser to the President and Chief of Staff to former interim President Michel Djotodia, Mr Kamoun (53) was Director-General of the Treasury under former President François Bozizé. He will now be responsible for building a new Cabinet and working on keeping a fragile peace process alive.
