Mama Fatima Singhateh back as Justice Minister

President Yahya Jammeh has reappointed Mama Fatima Singhateh as his Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

Mama Fatima Singhateh was sacked from the position in February 2014 and replaced by Basirou Mahoney who was sacked last week in a Cabinet reshuffle following a failed coup attempt.

Mama Fatima Singhateh has a LL.B Hons and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Hull, United Kingdom and is a former senior judge of the Court of Appeal and prior to that was a High Court Judge for three years.

She has also served as Principal Legal Draftsperson at the Attorney General’s Chambers and Ministry of Justice as well as the Head and Coordinator of its Child’s Rights Unit. Justice Singhateh was the Company Secretary and Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs for a major bank. From January 2006 – October 2007 she was the Treasurer, Board of Directors ECPAT International in Bangkok, Thailand.
