Mines and Energy and Health posts filled

President Juan Manuel Santos has continued rebuilding his Cabinet with two new appointments announced yesterday. They are for the positions of Health and Mines and Energy.

Federico Renjifo VĂ©lez is to become the new Minister of Mines and Energy. The new minister was until recently the Minister of the Interior. Prior to that he had been Deputy Minister of Mines and Secretary General of the Presidency where he had been a member of the board of Ecopetrol and remained a member of the Board of Directors of Ecopetrol for the Interior Ministry.

Alejandro Gaviria (47) has been named as the new Minister of Health. The new minister has a PhD in Economics from the University of California, was Deputy Director of the National Planning Department for six years and is Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of the Andes.
