Minister of Treasury dismissed amidst plans to dissolve ministry

Prime Minister Beata Szydlo has dismissed Minister of the Treasury, Dawid Jackiewicz, and appointed Henryk Kowalczyk, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers to supervise the ministry.

The ministry, also known as the Ministry of State Treasury was formed in 1996 to supervise a number of enterprises and agencies and came out of a period when there were lots of privatisations of state owned enterprises. The prime minister plans to dissolve the ministry and replace it with an agency whilst transferring some companies back to the relevant ministries.
