Minister resigns after 40 children die in blaze

Carlos Rodas, Guatemala’s Minister for Social Welfare has resigned following a blaze last Wednesday at a government run children’s centre which killed 40 children. The minister had remained in post until now to oversee counselling and medical treatment of the survivors but now felt it right to go to allow a proper investigation to take place.
