Miro Cerar confirmed as Prime Minister designate

Miro Cerar of the centre-left Party of Miro Cerar (SMC) was voted as Prime Minister designate by the National Assembly yesterday. He won the vote by 57 votes for and 11 against in the 90 seat parliament.

The Prime Minister designate now has 15 days in which to form a Cabinet. He is expected to do that within a coalition of parties led by his party with 36 seats. The other parties in the coalition look like being formed from the centrist Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia (DeSUS) with 10 seats, the centre-left Social Democrats (SD) with six seats, the centrist Alliance of Alenka BratuĊĦek (ZaAB) with four seats and possibly the two ethnic minority MPs.
