New Foreign Affairs and Culture Ministers appointed

President Traian Băsescu has sworn in a new Foreign Minister and Minister of Culture.

Ms. Csilla Hegedüs was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture yesterday after being nominated by the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) a junior member of the government coalition.

Following the resignation of two foreign ministers in as many weeks, a career diplomat, Bogdan-Lucian Aurescu, was also sworn in as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Bogdan-Lucian Aurescu (41) since 2012 has been State Secretary for Strategic Affairs with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From August 2010 to February 2012, he was Secretary of State for European Affairs and between March 2012 and June 2012, he was Secretary of State for Global Affairs.
