New Labour Minister appointed

Political Deputy Labour Minister Dr. Pan Shih-wei has been appointed to replace his former boss Wang Ju-hsuan who resigned on Thursday over a dispute about minimum wage.

The new Minister for the Council of Labour Affairs, Dr. Pan Shih-wei (57) has a degree in Political Science and higher degrees including a Ph.D. in Industrial and Labour Relations. He was vice president of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and is an assistant professor of labour studies at the Chinese Culture University.
