New Vice President nominated

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Governor of the Bank of Ghana Mr Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur as his Vice President.

The name will now be submitted to the Parliament Appointments Committee for vetting, a process which is scheduled for 6th August.

According to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur (61) has a B.Sc. and Masters in Economics (1974 and 1980). His first job was as a research assistant at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research from 1974 to 1975. From there he moved to the Ministry of Finance and Planning and then became a private consultant before becoming Governor of the Central Bank in 2009.
