Published

President Park Geun-hye has proposed three changes to her Cabinet amidst a political crisis which has seen calls for her resignation or impeachment.

Yim Jong-yong has been nominated as Minister of Finance and Deputy-Prime Minister; whilst Kim Byong-joon has been named as Prime Minister to replace Hwang Kyo-ahn. Park Seung-joo has been named as the potential new Minister of Public Safety and Security

Opposition parties have said that they will not approve the names which must go to parliament for approval.

Choi Soon-sil, a friend and confidante of the president who is at the centre of the political crisis, has been questioned and detained by prosecutors. She says that she did not see confidential documents and only helped with speeches by the president soon after she was elected.
