Parliament approves five new Ministers

Published

Iraq’s parliament has approved five of six nominees presented to them earlier this week. The minister of trade nominee was rejected. However, the appointment of the five ministers is some form of progress for Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi after a three month stand-off, especially the appointment of a new technocrat oil minister. The prime minister has still to get his way over the appointment of a new finance minister and some other key ministers including trade; until that happens he will continue to have problems with ridding the system of corruption.

Abdul Razzaq al-Issa; Minister of Higher Education

Hasan al-Janabi; Minister of Water Resources

Jabar al-Luaibi; Minister of Oil

Ann Nafe Ousi, Minister of Construction and Housing

Kazem Fenjan; Minister of Transport
