Peru gets new Health Minister

Aníbal Velásquez Valdivia has been appointed the new Minister of Health replacing Midori de Habich Rospigliosi who resigned on Wednesday.

Aníbal Velásquez (52) graduated as a surgeon from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of San Agustin de Arequipa in 1979. He also has a Masters in Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine, National University of San Marcos and another in Malariology and Sanitation from Maracay, Venezuela.

Prior to his new appointment he was Deputy Minister of Public Health at the Ministry of Health and has 20 years of experience of research in health sciences in the design and implementation of health policies and in evaluating projects and social programs across national and international health.
