PM reshuffles Government posts

Published

Yesterday evening Prime Minister Manmohan Singh carried out a limited shuffle of his government ministers. Described as a ‘shuffle of the same old pack’, no ministers were sacked but a number were downgraded. Three were elevated to Cabinet ranking.

Opposition leaders have criticised the re-shuffle because it did not get rid of ministers who had been seen as performing poorly. The changes were described by some within government as a ‘perform or perish’ move prior to a much more comprehensive re-shuffle which is expected when the Budget session is completed in May.
