PM resigns

Published

Prime Minister Garry Conille has resigned after just five months in the job. The apparent cause is internal disputes within the government, although the prime minister said that he had a good relationship with the president.

President Michel Martelly had taken months to appoint his first prime minister, with several suggestions being rejected by the Haitian parliament. Therefore this move is likely to cause further delays in getting government moving and will undoubtedly cause concern amongst international donors.
