South Sudan

President appoints new Agriculture Minister

Published

President Salva Kiir has appointed Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec as the new Minister of Agriculture. The appointment fills a vacancy caused in August last year when the former minister left the government an set up a rival party.

In his latest set of decrees the president has also appointed two new deputy ministers and removed former First Vice-President Riek Machar and his supporters from parliament. These decisions bring South Sudan back to where it was several years ago and almost certainly will lead to an escalation in the fighting and more misery for the people of South Sudan.
