President appoints new Cabinet

President Bingu wa Mutharika has finally appointed a new Cabinet to replace the one he dismissed on 14th August.

The Cabinet has been trimmed down somewhat from the previous 42 members to 31 members, although most observers were hoping for a Cabinet of around 16 members.

Oddly, the President hasn’t included Vice President Joyce Banda in his list, although she is an elected Vice President and cannot be removed until her term is completed. The two have been at loggerheads for some time.
