President appoints new Petroleum and Housing Ministers

President Nicolás Maduro has named Eulogio del Pino as the new Minister of Petroleum and Mining and President of the PDVSA (Petroleos de Venezuela SA). The President also appointed Manuel Quevedo as the new Minister for Housing and Habitat.

Eulogio del Pino is a Geophysical Engineer. He graduated from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1979 with a Master’s degree in Oil Exploration from Stanford University in 1985.

Del Pino started his career with INTEVEP, PDVSA´s Technology and Research Center before joining Western Atlas Company. In 1991 he joined Petróleos de Venezuela and worked his way up through a number of its divisions until he became a board member in 2005. He has been President and Vice President of the Venezuelan Society of Geophysical Engineers from 1990 to 1994, Vice President of the US’s Society of Exploration Geophysicists from 1996 to 1997, and Founder and Coordinator of the Latin American Geophysical Union. Eulogio del Pino became President of PDVSA in September 2014, replacing the longstanding Rafael Ramírez.

Eulogio del Pino has also worked as an academic, being a Professor at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and the Universidad Simón Bolívar, in Caracas.
