President elected

The Tunisian constituent assembly has elected its first interim president following the writing of an interim mini constitution since the general election on 23dr October.

Moncef Marzouki of the centre-left and more secular Congress of the Republic (CPR) party was elected by 153 votes in favour of the 202 deputies present in the 217 seat chamber. His election will leave the way clear to appoint the prime minister.
