President makes sweeping Cabinet changes

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has carried out a wide-ranging Cabinet reshuffle. No explanation was given for the changes but the country is currently suffering from the fall in oil prices and a series of corruption trials which have damaged the government.

The new appointments include the Finance, Energy, Interior, Transport, Culture, Telecommunications, Higher Education and Public Works portfolios.
