President Mikheil Saakashvili yesterday nominated Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of Georgian Dream, the winners of the recent general election as the new Prime Minister.

Although Ivanishvili named his Cabinet last week, he now has ten days in which to do so formally. Georgian Dream will hold 85 seats in the new parliament to President Saakashvili’s party, the United National Movement (UNM), who will have 65 seats.

The new parliament is expected to meet for its first session on 21st October.
