Science Minister impeached

Published

Iran’s parliament has impeached Minister of Science Faraji Dana by 145 votes for and 110 against with 15 abstentions.

The parliamentarians were, apparently, unhappy with the performance of the minister and his politicising the academic environment. He is the first to be dismissed by parliament from within the Rouhani Cabinet. President Hassan Rouhani has appointed former Education Minister Mohammad Ali Najafi as interim Science Minister until a permanent replacement can be found.
