Sevil Shhaideh named Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration

President Klaus Iohannis has appointed Sevil Shhaideh to the position of Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration. She replaces Liviu Dragnea last week after he was found guilty of electoral fraud.

Sevil Shhaideh (51) graduated from the Economic Planning and Cybernetics Faculty of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies in 1987 and attended a number of advanced administration courses in the United States organised by USAID. She took a Business Projects Management Master’s degree from the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the ”Ovidius” University between 2005 and 2007.

In 1987 she started her career as a programme analyst for the Constanta-based Trust for Agricultural Mechanisation and then became a Systems Manager with Constanta County Labour and Social Protection Directorate (1991-1993) before moving on to become Information Systems Director with the Constanta County Council (1993-2007). From 2007 to 2012 she was Director General of the Projects Directorate General, Constanta County Council. In 2012 she was made Secretary of State with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MDRAP) before her current appointment.

Sevil Shhaideh speaks English and French.
