Soe Win is new Minister of Religious Affairs

Published

Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs, Soe Win, has been given the full Ministerial position following the dismissal of San Sint earlier this week.

Although parliament confirmed the appointment there were some voices of dissent because the Deputy Minister had previously been Director of the Ministry of Information’s News and Periodicals Enterprise when around K800 million had gone missing from the books of the New Light of Myanmar periodical. Soe Win was never charged with corruption but it was felt that it took place whilst he was in charge and it should have been prevented.

The formal announcement of the appointment as pubished on the Presidential website is as follows:

“Republic of the Union of Myanmar President Office
