Turkmenistan gets new Textiles Minister

The Trend News Agency is reporting that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree appointing Tachmammet Gurbanmammedov as the new Minister of Textiles.

The president apparently dismissed the previous minister, Saparmurat Batyrov, because of failures in delivery. The article points out that the textile industry is one of the largest parts of the Turkmen economy but has not realised its potential because of “difficulties in their realization”.

The President wants to see improvements in market studies, the placement of goods, training of specialists for the industry, modernisation of the textile enterprises along with replacement of machinery with more modern equipment.
