Two ministries split

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved a minor Cabinet reshuffle which sees the creation of two new ministries.

The reshuffle which happened this morning, divides the Ministry of Communications into a new Ministry of Railways and a reduced Ministry of Communications. Suranjit Sengupta will be the new Minister for Railways and Obaidul Quader the new Minister for Communications.

The second ministry to be split is the Ministry of Science, Information and Communications Technology. In its place will be a new Ministry of Science and Technology run by Yeafesh Osman and a new Ministry of information and Communications Technology (ICT) run by Syed Abul Hossain.

Two other ministers have swopped jobs; Lt Col (retd) Mohammad Faruk Khan is the new Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism; whilst G.M. Quader becomes the new Minister for Commerce.
