Two new Ministers as no confidence motion is lodged

Published

Having dismissed his Foreign Minister earlier this week Prime Minister Joe Natuman went on to dismiss his Minister of Justice. Subsequently he has appointed Kalvao Moli as the new Minister for Foreign Affairs and Osea Nevu as the new Minister of Justice.

Both men, having signed the opposition motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister which was deposited with Vanuatu Speaker Philip Boedoro, asked that their names be withdrawn from the list.

Prior to their names being removed the Speaker had received the motion with 21 signatures. A total of 27 votes are needed for a motion of no confidence to be successful.

Meanwhile, opposition Leader Moana Carcasses is one of nineteen MPs involved in bribery allegations which are currently under investigation.
