Update on Council of Ministers

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has sworn in a further thirteen ministers into the Council of Ministers yesterday. All the ministers were from the Nepali Congress and it brings to 26 the number of ministers now inducted into Prime Minister Prachanda’s Cabinet.

The thirteen new ministers are:

Arjun Narasingh KC; Minister of Urban Development
Prakash Sharan Mahat; Minister of Foreign Affairs
Bal Krishna Khand; Minister of Defence
Keshav Kumar Budhathoki; Minister of General Administration
Gagan Kumar Thapa; Minister of Health
Shankar Bhandari; Minister of Forests and Soil Conservation
Sita Devi Yadav; Minister of Peace and Reconstruction
Hridaya Ram Thani; Minister of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation
Romi Gauchan Thakali; Minister of Commerce
Deepak Giri; Minister of Irrigation
Nabindra Raj Joshi; Minister of Industry
Jeevan Bahadur Shahi; Minister of Culture; Tourism and Civil Aviation
Surya Man Gurung; Minister of Labour and Employment

In addition to the new ministers the Council of Ministers (Cabinet) already has the following members who have been appointed since Prime Minister Prachanda was elected by parliament in early August:
