Zuma carries out Cabinet reshuffle

President Jacob Zuma has carried out the expected reshuffle of his Cabinet. In a statement issued on the presidential website the new appoints are listed as follows:

Ms Lindiwe Sisulu; Minister of Public Service and Administration
Ms Nosiviwe Maphisa-Nqakula; Minister of Defence
Ben Martins; Minister of Transport
Sibusiso Ndebele; Minister of Correctional Services

The Deputy Ministers are as follows:

Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga; Transport
Gratitude Magwanishe; Public Enterprises
Jeremy Cronin; Public Works
Ms Hlengiwe Mkhize; Economic Development
Mduduzi Manana; Higher Education.

The president has also appointed a new National Police Commissioner. For the first time a woman has been appointed to the role, Ms Mangwashi Victoria Phiyega. Ms Phiyega will take up her role with immediate effect.
