Published

The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has announced that the prime minister, Manmohan Singh, will open the inaugural ‘Emerging Kerala 2012’ summit, which runs from 12-14 September in Kochi.

The event will be an opportunity for the state of Kerela to showcase projects that will contribute to socio-economic development. It will ‘create awareness amongst all stakeholders … to facilitate the transformation of Kerala into a business hub and preferred investment destination’.

In addition to senior Indian ministers, a number of foreign dignitaries are also expected to attend, including representatives from China and the United Arab Emirates. Although the focus will be on Kerela, it is hoped that the summit will produce initiatives which will have a global benefit.
